É um diálogo entre Arte e Ciência, explorando a materialidade do plástico a partir de investigação científica e refletindo sobre a sua presença no quotidiano e os seus impactos ambientais. O estudo centra-se nos polímeros — naturais e sintéticos — compreendendo a sua estrutura molecular e traduzindo visualmente as suas cadeias tridimensionais em formas escultóricas feitas com plásticos reaproveitados e moldados por aquecimento, assumindo a deformação e a imprevisibilidade como parte do processo. O título Poli + Meros remete para a noção científica de polímero e para a pluralidade das esculturas construídas por adição de matéria. O trabalho procura aprofundar o conhecimento sobre os materiais utilizados na escultura, sensibilizando simultaneamente para os impactos ambientais do plástico e a necessidade de práticas mais sustentáveis.

It is a dialogue between Art and Science, exploring the materiality of plastic through scientific research and reflecting on its presence in everyday life and its environmental impacts. The study focuses on polymers—both natural and synthetic—understanding their molecular structure and visually translating their three-dimensional chains into sculptural forms made from reused plastics and molded by heating, embracing deformation and unpredictability as part of the process. The title Poly+ Meros refers to the scientific notion of polymer and to the plurality of sculptures constructed by adding material. The work seeks to deepen knowledge about the materials used in sculpture, while raising awareness of the environmental impacts of plastic and the need for more sustainable practices.
